Carbon Capture & Storage

The world is quickly moving forward to Green Energy with ambitious Net Zero target dates.

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) involves the sequestration of large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emitted from the industrial burning of fossil fuels. There are many technical approaches to CCS, but a common requirement for nearly all large-scale projects is transporting CO₂ from capture sites via pipelines to storage in redundant oil/gas fields or saline aquifers. Although early projects have seen CO₂ being stored in onshore sites adjacent to the emission sources, the industry is now focusing on developing CO₂ hub networks with offshore storage sites. Pipelines are the most common method for transporting large quantities of CO₂ over long distances with final point of injection being either via a platform (shallow water) or subsea trees (deep water).

Flow measurement of CO₂ is challenging; transportation and re-injection subsea require accurate and robust metering to manage, and report injected volumes to regulatory authorities and ensure that transport companies can be rewarded for their services. In support of these CCS projects, Solartron ISA has launched its Carbonstream™ range of CO₂ meters.

With decades of experience in designing and manufacturing topside and subsea flow meters, Solartron ISA's Carbonstream flow meters provideshigh accuracy and reliable flow measurement data in the harshest of offshore and subsea environments.
