Single Phase

Here you will find a list of the top questions and answers for Single Phase Flow Metering.

An Orifice Plate is one of the most used differential pressure devices, across numerous industries and applications. With a simple design, and ease of installation, they continue to be the preferred primary element for differential pressure management.

The Orifice Plate is installed either between a set of flanges (FF, RF, RTJ), as an Orifice Flange Assembly with pressure tapping’s on both the upstream and downstream flange, to allow installation of a differential pressure transmitter. Alternatively, the plate can be installed within a Carrier Assembly, with pressure tapping’s machined into the carrier, eliminating the need to machine flanges in situ.

If an Orifice Plate is incorrectly sized, or used without review of process conditions, it could damage the plate, resulting in downtime through operations. Orifice plates are often exposed to severe flow conditions along with potentially large pressure reductions. If not correctly sized, this could result in liquids flashing to a gas, cavitation, and choked flow.
